Perched at Victoria Gap near Hong Kong Island's Victoria Peak summit, the Peak Tower is a postmodern shopping complex designed by Farrells and completed in 1997. At 396 metres elevation, it houses the upper terminal of the Peak Tram, a historic funicular railway, and serves as a major retail destination. Both structures are owned and operated by the Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels group. The architects made a deliberate design choice to site the tower within a natural depression along the ridge line, limiting its height to 428 metres above sea level, ensuring the building would be visually prominent without disrupting the natural contours of Victoria Peak's skyline.
