Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial is a 352-foot column and national memorial located on Put-in-Bay, Ohio, commemorating the Battle of Lake Erie, a major naval engagement of the War of 1812 in which American Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry defeated a smaller Royal Navy force under Robert Heriot Barclay. Situated on an isthmus on South Bass Island, the monument stands as both a lighthouse and a tribute to the enduring peace between the United States, Britain, and Canada that followed the conflict.
