Located in İzmit in the province of Kocaeli, the Pertev Paşa Mosque was built in 1579 as part of an Ottoman külliye (charitable complex). Designed by the celebrated Ottoman architect Mimar Sinan, the mosque—also known as the Yeni Cuma Cami or New Friday Mosque—exemplifies the Ottoman architectural tradition of the period. As a work by Sinan, one of the Ottoman Empire's most accomplished architects, the structure reflects the sophisticated geometric principles and spatial organization characteristic of his designs.
