The Rüstem Pasha Mosque stands in the Tahtakale neighborhood of Istanbul's Fatih district, nestled within the Hasırcılar Çarşısı near the Spice Bazaar. Built around 1561–1563, this Ottoman congregational mosque was designed by the celebrated imperial architect Mimar Sinan for Rüstem Pasha, who served as Grand Vizier under Sultan Suleiman I. Constructed of granite, the mosque is renowned for its lavish interior and exterior ornamentation, particularly the numerous İznik tile designs that blanket nearly every vertical surface, including the entrance porch, making it one of the finest examples of Ottoman tilework from the period.
