The Philharmonie de Paris is a complex of concert halls completed in 2015 at the Parc de la Villette in the 19th arrondissement of northeastern Paris. The centerpiece is a symphonic concert hall seating 2,400, designed by Jean Nouvel and opened in January 2015, whose construction had been delayed approximately twenty years while the adjacent la Cité de la Musique—designed by Christian de Portzamparc and opened in 1995—was completed. Beyond its main concert space, the complex includes exhibition areas and rehearsal rooms. While primarily devoted to symphonic concerts, the venue also hosts jazz and world music performances.
