Situated at 15 avenue Montaigne in Paris's Quartier des Champs-Élysées, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées is an Art Deco landmark completed in 1913 by architects Auguste and Gustave Perret, working from a scheme by Henry van de Velde. Commissioned by impresario Gabriel Astruc, it was the first example of Art Deco architecture in the city. The main hall accommodates 1,905 patrons, while two smaller venues—the Comédie (601 seats) and Studio des Champs-Élysées (230 seats)—sit above. The theatre gained immediate international fame when, less than two months after its inauguration, it hosted the world premiere of the Ballets Russes' *Rite of Spring*, an event marked by one of classical music's most celebrated riots. Today it presents approximately three opera productions annually, typically baroque or chamber works, alongside an extensive concert season. It serves as the home venue for the Orchestre National de France and the Orchestre Lamoureux, and functions as a French base for the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.
