The Polebridge Ranger Station Historic District in Flathead County preserves the earliest administrative area of Glacier National Park, predating the park's own establishment. Built in the National Park Service rustic style, the district originally contained five cabins, a barn, oil house, woodshed, garage, generator house, fire cache, washhouse, and the Strissel Residence. The 1927 log barn and fire cache—the latter notable for its unusually detailed craftsmanship—were significant original structures; many other buildings were relocated to the site in 1955. A 1922 log ranger station residence stands as one of two structures that survived the 1988 Red Bench Fire, along with the checking station (a converted woodshed). The Strissel Residence was moved to the district in 1975. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the district documents the rustic vernacular architecture and early park administration practices of the early twentieth century.
