Prešeren Square is the central plaza of Ljubljana, Slovenia's capital, serving as the heart of the old town's pedestrian zone and a vital gathering space for the city's cultural, sporting, and political life. Redesigned by architect Edvard Ravnikar between 1987 and 1988, the square was transformed from its original funnel shape into a circular form, blending Art Nouveau and modern architectural sensibilities. The space hosts major annual events including the Ljubljana Dragon Carnival alongside concerts, festivals, and public assemblies, while a subsequent renovation in 2007 refreshed its appearance. Designated a monument of local significance, Prešeren Square remains Ljubljana's foremost public meeting ground.
