The Presidential Palace in Vilnius Old Town has served as the official residence and workplace of Lithuania's president since 1997. Originally built in the 14th century as the residence of the Bishop of Vilnius, the structure underwent numerous reconstructions over the centuries under the supervision of prominent architects including Laurynas Gucevičius and Vasily Stasov, who shaped its Neoclassical character. Throughout its long history, the palace hosted the monarchs of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, French kings and emperors, and Russian emperors, before becoming the seat of the Lithuanian presidency in the late twentieth century.
