The Cathedral Basilica of St Stanislaus and St Ladislaus of Vilnius is the principal Catholic cathedral in Lithuania, located in Vilnius Old Town near Cathedral Square. Originally founded in 1387 and constructed of brick, the building underwent significant transformation in the neoclassical style under architect Laurynas Gucevičius, who reimagined it as a classical structure. The cathedral has served as the spiritual center of Lithuanian Catholicism and held ceremonial importance as the site of monarchal inaugurations, where rulers were crowned with Gediminas' Cap. In contemporary times, it continues this tradition of state ceremony, hosting masses for newly inaugurated Lithuanian Presidents following their oaths sworn in the Seimas Palace.
