The Punjab and Haryana High Court in Chandigarh, known as the Palace of Justice, is a landmark courthouse designed by Le Corbusier and completed in 1947. Serving as the common appellate court for the Indian states of Punjab and Haryana and the Union Territory of Chandigarh, the building stands as one of Le Corbusier's major works in India's purpose-built capital. Its architectural significance was recognized internationally when it was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in July 2016, alongside several of the architect's other creations in Chandigarh. The court operates with a sanctioned strength of 85 judges and has produced several justices who went on to serve as Chief Justice of India.
