Qinglong Temple (also called Shifo Temple or Temple of Stone Buddha) is a Buddhist temple in Xi'an, Shaanxi, located in Yanta District. During the mid-Tang dynasty, the monk Huiguo taught Vajrayana Buddhism at the temple, establishing it as a foundational center for this esoteric tradition; his Japanese student Kūkai later brought these teachings to Japan, making Qinglong Temple instrumental in shaping Vajrayana Buddhism across East Asia. The temple was severely damaged in 1086 during the Northern Song dynasty and subsequently fell into obscurity. A modern reconstruction in Tang dynasty architectural style was completed in the 1980s.
