Located in the Barton suburb of Canberra, less than a kilometre from Parliament House, the R. G. Menzies House serves as the official headquarters of the Australian Federal Liberal Party and home to its think tank, the Menzies Research Centre. Built in 1965 in the Georgian architectural style, the two-storied red-brick structure was opened by then-prime minister Robert Menzies on 9 November 1965 at a cost of £65,000. The building originally functioned as party headquarters and was subsequently renovated in 1994 at a cost of AU$1.5 million, when it was renamed and reopened by Menzies' wife Pattie. A bust of Menzies by Melbourne sculptor V. E. Greenhalgh stands at the building's entrance, marking its significance to the Liberal Party's institutional identity.
