Rajwada, also known as the Holkar Palace, is a seven-story Indo-Saracenic palace in Indore that exemplifies the architectural tradition of the Maratha empire. Construction began in 1747 under Malhar Rao Holkar, founder of the Holkar Dynasty, though the structure reached its current form by 1766. Located in Khajuri Bazaar near the city center, the palace stands adjacent to the Krishnapura Chhatri and faces a garden featuring a statue of Maharani Ahilya Bai Holkar, fountains, and an artificial waterfall. The Shiv Vilas Palace occupies the site to its right. Now a state-protected monument under the ownership of the Government of Madhya Pradesh, Rajwada draws visitors for its imposing scale and historical significance within the Holkar dynasty's legacy.
