Built in 1914, the Reid School in Bend, Oregon was the town's first modern school building, constructed of stone in the Richardsonian Romanesque style. Named after Ruth Reid, Bend's pioneering school principal, the structure served the public school district for sixty-five years before being transferred to Deschutes County in 1979. It now houses the Deschutes Historical Museum, and its distinctive architecture and significance to Bend's development earned it listing on the National Register of Historic Places.
