Riberhus was a royal castle on the western outskirts of Ribe in Esbjerg Municipality, Denmark, and one of the kingdom's most important strongholds throughout the Middle Ages. King Christian III undertook a major renovation between 1537 and 1543, but the castle's military significance waned following the Swedish wars of the 17th century, leading to its gradual abandonment. Today the site, known as Riberhus Slotsbanke or Toberhus Voldsted, survives as a protected ancient monument consisting of an approximately eight-metre-tall, nearly quadratic embankment ringed by moats. A bronze statue of Queen Dagmar by sculptor Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen stands on the southern corner of the castle bank.
