The Robertson County Courthouse and Jail in Franklin, Texas, completed in 1880 with its adjoining jail built the year before, represents a notable example of Second Empire architecture designed by Frederick Ernst Ruffini. The building's signature mansard roof, characteristic of the Second Empire style, was removed in 1924 but underwent restoration in the 2010s, returning the structure to its original appearance. Recognized as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1968 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, the courthouse continues to serve Robertson County.
