Roman temple in Buxton
Buxton, United Kingdom

No longer standing
Demolished or destroyed.
At Buxton in the English Midlands, archaeological excavation in 1787 revealed a large stone podium facing the Roman bath complex at Aquae Arnemetiae, interpreted as the remains of a classical temple. The podium's scale and positioning suggest a significant religious structure associated with the sacred thermal springs, though the temple's original form and complete dimensions remain uncertain due to the fragmentary nature of the surviving evidence.
