Roppongi Hills is a vast integrated urban development in Tokyo's Roppongi district, designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and completed in 2003 by building magnate Minoru Mori. The 724,000-square-meter mega-complex embodies Mori's vision of mixed-use inner-city living, seamlessly combining office space, residential apartments, retail shops, restaurants, cinemas, a museum, hotel, television studio, amphitheatre, and parks—all intended to allow residents to live, work, and recreation within a single precinct and reduce commuting time. The complex centers on the 54-story Mori Tower, which anchors this ambitious effort to enhance urban quality of life and Japan's global competitiveness.
