The Round House is a cylindrical wood-frame residence built in 1856 at 36 Atherton Street in Somerville, Massachusetts, for hardware manufacturer Enoch Robinson. An offshoot of the octagon house movement popularized by phrenologist Orson Fowler, the Italianate structure features two full stories with a third story set back behind battlemented embrasures. Its interior is organized around a central rotunda crowned by a glass skylight, from which interconnected rooms radiate across all three levels—four rooms on the first floor, six on the second, and four on the third.
