Built in 1874 in Atlantic, Iowa, the S. F. Martin House is a Victorian-era residence that blends Second Empire and Italianate architectural styles with Gothic Revival elements. The house was constructed for S. F. Martin, a prominent local businessman who had settled in Atlantic in 1865 and established the town's first hardware store before expanding into various industrial enterprises. Martin acquired the property between 1870 and 1872, and the resulting eclectic design reflects the architectural tastes of the era. The house was recognized for its historical significance when it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
