Built in 1937 by architects Harvey and Clarke, the Old Martin County Courthouse in Stuart, Florida exemplifies Art Deco modernism and stands as a landmark of the county's early institutional development, erected just twelve years after Martin County's formation in 1925. Located at 80 Southeast Ocean Boulevard in the county seat, this courthouse was recognized for its architectural significance when it was included in *A Guide to Florida's Historic Architecture* (1989) and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997. The building was further honored with inclusion on the Martin County Historic Register in 2007. Today it operates as the Courthouse Cultural Center and serves as headquarters for the Arts Council, Inc., the designated local arts agency for Martin County.
