Saint John the Baptist Church stands in the historic Kond district of Yerevan, Armenia, built in 1710 by the wealthy patron Melik Aghamal on the site of a medieval church destroyed in the 1689 earthquake. Designed by Baghdasar Arzoumanian and constructed in the Armenian architectural tradition, the church follows the three-nave basilic plan characteristic of medieval Armenian churches. Its rectangular layout comprises a prayer hall with the main altar positioned on the eastern end, flanked by sacristies. Today an active place of worship and recognized cultural heritage monument, the building represents the reconstruction of Armenian religious architecture in the early eighteenth century.
