The Church of Saint John the Baptist is a small Greek Orthodox church located in the Muristan area of Jerusalem's Christian Quarter. Its above-ground structure dates primarily to the 11th century, while its crypt preserves elements from the Late Roman or Byzantine period, between approximately 324 and 500 AD. Constructed of rock, the church exemplifies Byzantine architectural tradition and reflects the layered religious history of the Holy Land, with its underground chambers reaching back to the early Christian era.
