Built in 1872 in the Russian Revival style, Saint Michael Archangel Orthodox Church in Kulno, Poland, stands as a brick structure rooted in a much longer religious history. An Orthodox parish had existed in the village before the seventeenth century, eventually adopting the Union of Brest by 1691. Following the incorporation of the Kulno parish into the Orthodox Eparchy of Warsaw in 1875, the church experienced a turbulent twentieth century: the local Orthodox community dispersed in 1946 after resettlement to the Soviet Union, and the building fell into neglect until its reopening in 1955 or 1956. Since 1972, it has served as a rare jointly administered space, shared by both Orthodox and Roman Catholic congregations—the only such dual-use religious building in eastern Poland. Its interior retains Catholic furnishings, having transferred its original Orthodox liturgical items to Malczyce during the 1950s.
