Sanquhar Castle is a 13th-century ruin in Dumfries and Galloway, southwest Scotland, positioned northeast of Dumfries and overlooking the River Nith. Built as a stronghold to guard the southern approach to the royal burgh of Sanquhar, the castle's defenses exploit its natural setting: the River Nith bounds it to the west, a burn protects the north, and a deep ditch reinforces the remaining perimeter. Now a scheduled monument, the ruins lie along the Southern Upland Way walking trail.
