Sardar Castle, located in Bukan County, Iran, is a Qajar-era fortification built in 1868 by Sardaar Aziz Khaan Mukri atop a hillock near a reservoir that now bears his name. Constructed with 20×20 centimeter bricks bound with gley mortar and timber reinforcement, the castle rose approximately 13 meters above its 50×60 meter foundation. The structure exemplifies Qajar architectural practice in its use of traditional materials—saruj, clay, brick, and wood—characteristic of the period. Following its initial purpose, the castle served successively as a police headquarters, post office, and school between 1946 and 1973. The original structure was completely demolished in 1983 and replaced by a new building that functioned as a Basij (Mobilization) Station. It retains the status of an Iranian National Heritage property.
