Schloss Tegel, a country house in the Reinickendorf district of Berlin, was designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel and built between 1820 and 1824 for Wilhelm von Humboldt on an estate that extends toward Lake Tegel. The site held particular significance for Wilhelm and his brother Alexander, who spent much of their childhood in a former schloss there. The present neoclassical building remains in the hands of the Heinz family, descendants of Wilhelm, and houses the private Humboldt-Museum, which opens to the public for guided tours during the summer months. The château stands as an architectural heritage monument.
