The Sherman County Courthouse, completed in 1920 in Loup City, Nebraska, exemplifies the Beaux-Arts style applied to civic architecture of the early twentieth century. A 60-by-74-foot structure crowned with a cornice, mutules, and parapet, the building has served Sherman County continuously since its construction. Recognized as a notable example of the "County Citadel" courthouse type, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
