The Shukhov Radio Tower, also known as the Shabolovka Tower, is a 160-metre steel broadcasting tower in Moscow designed by Vladimir Shukhov and completed in 1922. Constructed during the Russian Civil War between 1920 and 1922, this free-standing diagrid structure represents a landmark achievement of Russian avant-garde architecture and constructivist design. Its innovative lattice framework exemplifies the rationalist and high-tech principles of early Soviet modernism. Now designated a federal cultural heritage site in Russia, the tower remains a celebrated example of Shukhov's pioneering approach to structural engineering and architectural form.
