The Sixth Street School, located at the corner of Sixth and C Streets in Hawthorne, Nevada, is an Art Deco building constructed in 1936 and expanded in 1942 and 1950. Designed by University of Pennsylvania-trained architect Willis Humphry Church, the school was initially funded by a local bond issue rather than New Deal programs, though its later expansions were supported by federal funding following World War II growth at the nearby Hawthorne Naval Ammunition Depot. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999, the building holds significance both for its association with military history and as a locally important Art Deco work. Now standing at the corner across from the historic Mineral County Courthouse, the building is no longer in use as a school.
