St Bertoline's Church stands in the village of Barthomley, Cheshire, on an elevated position atop Barrow Hill, an ancient burial ground reached by a flight of steps. Built in 1150, the church blends Norman and English Gothic architecture, with later work undertaken by the firm Sharpe, Paley and Austin. Designated Grade I listed, it remains an active Anglican parish church in the diocese of Chester. The building holds historical significance as the site of a massacre during the English Civil War, and Raymond Richards considered it among the most beautiful churches in the county, believing it to be England's only church dedicated to Saint Bertoline.
