St Giles' Church in Horsted Keynes, a village in the Sussex Weald of West Sussex, is a Norman cruciform church founded in 1101 that stands at the north end of its village on the site of an ancient pagan place of worship. Built in the 12th century, the Norman structure preserved elements of an earlier Saxon stone building that it succeeded. The church retains its original cruciform plan and distinctive central tower topped by a broach spire, though it underwent alterations—chiefly in the 13th and 14th centuries—and Victorian restoration. The building contains extensive memorials to long-established local families, including a rare 13th-century heart shrine in the chancel associated with the de Cahaignes family, after whom the village was named. Former Prime Minister Harold Macmillan of the publishing dynasty is buried in the family plot. Grade I listed for its architectural and historical significance, the church remains active in parish life today.
