St. Mary's Orthodox Church in Westover, West Virginia, is a Byzantine Revival structure originally constructed in the nineteenth century as a Methodist chapel. After its purchase by the Orthodox Church, the building underwent substantial alterations to meet liturgical requirements and was formally dedicated as an Orthodox house of worship on September 8, 1923—the feast day of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, to whom it is consecrated. The church is distinguished by its yellow brick exterior set upon a high foundation of textured concrete block. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988, it serves the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese and reflects the architectural and religious transformations that shaped American Orthodox communities in the early twentieth century.
