St Michael Paternoster Royal is an English Baroque church in the City of London designed by Christopher Wren and completed in 1686. The current structure rose from the ashes of its medieval predecessor, which dated to at least the 13th century before being destroyed in the Great Fire of London in 1666. The church gained historical significance as the burial place of Richard "Dick" Whittington, the celebrated Lord Mayor of London, in 1423, though his tomb has since been lost. During the Second World War, the building suffered severe damage in the London Blitz and underwent restoration between 1966 and 1968. Today it remains a Grade I listed building.
