Place Stanislas is a large pedestrianized square in Nancy, Lorraine, France, built between 1752 and 1756 under the orders of Stanislaus I, former King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania who ruled as Duke of Lorraine. Designed by Emmanuel Héré de Corny, it exemplifies 18th-century urban planning and represents one of the earliest architecturally unified monumental public squares, blending Rococo and Neoclassical elements. The square forms part of a tripartite ensemble with the Place de la Carrière and Place d'Alliance that extends its principal axis; together, these three spaces have been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983 for their exceptional demonstration of Enlightenment-era architectural principles and urban design.
