The Sun Oil Building, a 19-story Art Deco high-rise in Philadelphia's Center City, stands 230 feet tall and was constructed in 1928 as the headquarters of the Sun Oil Company, a role it maintained until the company's relocation in 1971. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 and the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places in 1984, the building exemplifies the streamlined geometric vocabulary and vertical emphasis characteristic of Art Deco architecture from the interwar period.
