Temple Israel, a historic synagogue located in Lafayette, Indiana, was built in 1867 and stands as one of the oldest synagogue buildings in the United States. Designed in the Romanesque Revival style, it originally served the local Reform Jewish community before being deconsecrated in 1969. The building subsequently found new purpose as a Unitarian church, reflecting the adaptive reuse of this significant architectural landmark. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
