The Cove, a historic plantation near Harrisburg in Halifax County, Virginia, centers on a main house built around 1773 as a one-and-a-half-story vernacular frame dwelling with a gable roof and flanking stone chimneys. The property encompasses numerous contributing and archaeological structures, including two secondary dwellings, a hay barn, two log tobacco barns (one converted to a dwelling), and the ruins of four log barns, three chimneys, an ice house, a frame barn, a frame shed, a log house, and what are believed to be at least two slave quarters. The site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006 and serves as an important archaeological resource for understanding eighteenth-century plantation life in Virginia.
