Opened in 1974 in Lansdowne, Virginia, The National Conference Center is a sprawling Brutalist corporate training facility originally commissioned by Xerox as a headquarters for employee copier and technology instruction. Designed by Vincent G. Kling & Partners and constructed at a cost of $55 million, the center encompasses 265,000 square feet of meeting space across 250 conference rooms, 917 guest rooms, and an athletic facility, serving over 14,000 visitors monthly. After Xerox opened the grounds to outside organizations in 1994, the facility changed ownership to Oxford Capital Partners in 2000, followed by a $29 million renovation in 2002 that introduced "living learning modules"—color-coded buildings connected by tunnels, supplemented by a ballroom and walking trails designed to enhance the training experience.
