Thimblemill Library stands at the junction of Beakes Road and Thimblemill Road in Smethwick, Sandwell. Built in 1937 by Smethwick Borough engineer Roland Fletcher and architect Chester Button, this brick building exemplifies the Streamline Moderne style characteristic of inter-war civic architecture. Originally known as Warley Branch Library, it was granted Grade II listed status in March 2003, ensuring its protection from unauthorised alteration or demolition. The library underwent renovation and extension in 2008, subsequently expanding its services to include digital offerings and community spaces. The building takes its name from the nearby Thimble Mill, a historic watermill that once operated in the locality.
