Located in Rockville, Montgomery County, Maryland, the Third Addition to Rockville and Old St. Mary's Church and Cemetery is a historic district that preserves the character of a 19th-century community centered around its railroad station. The area features 19th-century residential buildings in Georgian, Queen Anne, and Colonial Revival styles arranged along a tree-lined narrow street, complemented by a Victorian Gothic railroad station and a notable cast-iron brick commercial structure—the area's last surviving example of its type. St. Mary's Church, the county's first brick Catholic church, anchors the district alongside its cemetery, where author F. Scott Fitzgerald, his wife Zelda, and their daughter Frances are buried. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, the district evokes the era when the railroad station served as Rockville's gateway, combining weathered headstones, period architecture, and streetscape to create a cohesive historical landscape.
