This historic home in Charleston, West Virginia, was built around 1921 for James R. Thomas, president of the Carbon Fuel Company, a coal mining enterprise in the Kanawha Valley. Originally known as "The Maples," the house exemplifies English Tudor Revival architecture with characteristic half-timbering in select gables and brick accents, though its exterior is predominantly finished in stucco. The residence was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984 as part of the South Hills Multiple Resource Area.
