Tomburg Castle is a ruin located near Wormersdorf in Rheinbach, Germany, approximately nine kilometers from Bonn. Built around 900, the castle sits atop the Tomberg, a 316-meter basalt dome that forms a geological relic of the Tertiary period, where liquid lava once rose through a volcano before erosion exposed its hardened core. Today the site occupies a small nature reserve notable for its rare plant species. The ruins are recognized as an architectural heritage monument in North Rhine-Westphalia.
