Standing in downtown Dubuque, Iowa, the Town Clock is an Italianate structure designed by architect Fridolin Heer that has overlooked the city for more than 140 years. The present clock is the second of its kind; its predecessor collapsed in the 1870s, a tragedy that claimed three lives. While the building housing the original clock tower is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the clock tower itself is not separately registered.
