The U.S. Custom House in Charleston, South Carolina is a Greek Revival structure designed by architect Ammi B. Young. Construction of the building began in 1852 but was halted in 1859 owing to financial constraints and anxieties over South Carolina's potential secession from the Union. After the Civil War interrupted the project, work resumed in 1870 and was finally completed in 1879. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places on October 9, 1974, and stands as a contributing property within the Charleston Historic District.
