University College is a Romanesque Revival landmark on the University of Toronto's St. George campus in Toronto, Ontario. Founded in 1853 as the university's nondenominational teaching arm and the provincial college of Canada West (now Ontario), it served as the founding member of the university's federation, distinguishing itself from contemporary denominational institutions such as Trinity College and St. Michael's College. The main building, completed in 1859 and designed by Cumberland and Storm with later contributions from Mathers & Haldenby and David Brash Dick, has been designated a National Historic Site of Canada. Today, UC functions as one of seven undergraduate colleges within the Faculty of Arts and Science and is home to the University College Literary and Athletic Society, Canada's oldest student government.
