The Vasile Alecsandri National Theatre in Iași, Romania, is the country's oldest national theatre and one of its most prestigious theatrical institutions. Built in 1840 and designed by the architectural firm Fellner & Helmer, the building blends Rococo Revival, Baroque, and Neoclassical styles. Originally established as a theatre company and opera house, it was renamed in 1956 to honor the celebrated Romanian playwright and poet Vasile Alecsandri.
