The Romanian National Opera in Iași is a public opera and ballet institution housed in the city's National Theatre, a historic monument designed by Viennese architects Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer and constructed between 1894 and 1896. The opera company itself was inaugurated on 3 November 1956 with a performance of Puccini's *Tosca*, establishing it as one of Romania's national opera companies.
