The Vermont Square Branch Library, built in 1913 in Los Angeles's Vermont Square district about a mile southwest the University of Southern California, is the oldest branch library in the Los Angeles Public Library system. Designed by architect Sumner Hunt and funded by Andrew Carnegie's philanthropic grant, the building exemplifies Mediterranean and Renaissance Revival architecture. One of only three surviving Carnegie libraries in Los Angeles, it has been recognized as a Historic-Cultural Monument and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
